- APRIL 14, 2012: WEATHER UPDATE 7:45 AM: Tournament has been cancelled. Refunds will be processed in the next 7-10 days. Thanks for wanting to come support our tournament and good luck to all of your teams this season!
- APRIL 9, 2012: BRACKETS ARE NOW POSTED. Please click on the appropriate Menu Tab Above.
- MESSAGE TO MANAGERS:
- Managers, first and foremost, thanks for your participation in our Inaugural April tournament to benefit our STL NATURALS team and Cardinal Glennon Childrens Foundation. We both thank you very much! Here are some important items to know before the tourney begins on Friday:
- 1: BE ON TIME!. We have 69 teams and games are scheduled end-to-end. Game time is START time and FORFEIT time, and there can be no leeway for late starts. Out of area teams were given extra considerations for Saturday start times to give your team plenty of time to get to the park.
- 2: We are playing at Kirkwood Athletic Assn, 2377 Marshall rd, Kirkwood, 63122. Parking is handled on the main parking areas of the complex, across the street at the park, or in the golf course front lot directly across the road on the west side of KAA. Please do not park on the grass in the park areas, or you risk being ticketed by the local police department. That goes for the handicapped areas inside the park as well.
- 3: WEATHER!!! If things get tricky weather-wise, the rain line will be updated at 314-822-7385. Tourney Directors are Rich Phillips at 314-791-0161, or Paul Bausinger at 314-795-5484. THIS WEBSITE WILL ALSO BE UPDATED!
- 4: Please go to KWDAA.COM to see any special rules regarding your divisions, as the tourney will be guided with those rules in most cases, with some small modifications where needed.
- 5: All teams are required to check in at the standings boards for the tourney which will be located on the backside of the concession stand in the middle of the park. Please bring your league approved roster. ( KAA league teams are not needed as I already have those on hand). If you do not play in a league, please bring a typed roster showing birth dates. I would suggest strongly that all teams carry with them proof of birth. Also, ALL Parents will be required to sign a waiver for each child before the team will be allowed to participate in any games. This waiver will be emailed ASAP!
- 6: TEAMS - it is your responsibility to know your next game time before you leave the park. We have a couple of divisions that will rely on seedings to get their Sunday times, make sure we have a contact name and number when you check in so we can advise you of your game times. Schedules will be posted at the park and on this website.
- 7: Lastly, we ask for complete sportsmanship from all teams and spectators. This is a pre-season fundraiser for a good cause, not the Super NIT or Battle of the Beasts. Please act accordingly and hold your fans responsible please. Lets have a great weekend of quality baseball play!
- 8: VERY IMPORTANT!!! NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES will be allowed inside the park at any time. This includes coolers. Also, no pets, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, or any other wheeled accessory is allowed (other than wheelchairs/strollers or other necessary items). We are not charging gate fees for this tournament so we encourage you to utilize our FULL-SERVICE concession stand located in the central part of the park.
- ROSTER POLICY:
- IF you are not a REGISTERED KIRKWOOD ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION team, please bring a copy of your team roster (other league, USSSA, GMB, etc) to team check-in AND to EVERY GAME! ALSO, ALL TEAMS should bring copies of EVERY PLAYER's birth certificate to every game in case of roster checks.
- REFUND POLICY:
- Any checks already received will begin to be cashed on March 15th, 2012. Any checks received after that date will be cashed immediately. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A FULL REFUND, your request must be received by March 31st, 2012. ANY cancellation on or after April 1, 2012 will result in NO REFUND.
- If weather forces full cancellation of tournament, all teams will receive a full refund minus a $35.00 admin fee ($25.00 charitable donation + $10.00 admin fee).
- If weather forces cancellation of tournament after start, teams will receive:
- 1st game started but not completed: 75% of entrance fee - $25.00 charitable donation.
- 1st game complete: 50% of entrance fee - $25.00 charitable donation.
- 1st game complete and 2nd game started: 25% of entrance fee - $25.00 charitable donation.
- 2nd game complete: 0% refund.
- Every effort will be made to keep teams in the division originally requested. If not enough teams register for a particular division, teams will be brought together and the division will be considered "Open" at that age level.
- TOURNAMENT RULES:
- Please check back here often as this page will be updated with additional detail closer to the time of the tournament. This tournament will be played using Kirkwood Athletic Association modified rules (found here) with the FOLLOWING EXCEPTIONS:
- A: NO FACEMASK REQUIRED on helmets at any age level (they are recommended for pitching machine age levels).
- B: NO PITCHING LIMITS.
- C: All Kirkwood listed bat restrictions will be in force. Please check here to make sure you are familiar with those restrictions.
- D: Metal cleats are allowed at 13U and above, but are STRICTLY PROHIBITED on portable pitching mounds.
- E: Any protest of any kind must be accompanied by a $100.00 cash deposit and is NON-REFUNDABLE. Any decision made by the Tournament Director is considered final and binding on all parties.
- F: Run rules will be applicable at ages 7 thru 9. 10 and up are unlimited. The KAA rule of unlimited scoring in the " official" last inning in ages 7-9 is IN EFFECT.
- G: Teams may bat 9, 10 with an EH (no DH), or roster. This MUST be declared before the game and may not change. The scorekeeper of the home team is the official book. Substitution may be done only once for the starter, and there is 1 re-entry. A sub on being replaced cannot appear in the offensive line up again. Any player may play defense at any time whether in the hitting line up or not. Batting line up subs must be announced as they take place or you risk an out. Pitchers may not re-appear as a pitcher once being taken out. There are no pitching limitations as mandated by the tournament rules.
- H: All KAA bat rules are in EFFECT. An automatic out will be called if player is caught by other team using an illegal bat. This enforecement will be up to coaches to handle. Umpires will NOT be checking bats before/during games.
- I: GAME TIMES: 7U/8U Machine Pitch will be 1 hr 20 minutes (1:20). 9U will be 1hr 30 minutes (1:30). 10U-14U will be 1hr 40 minutes (1:40).
- Home vs. Away Team Designation:
- For pool-play games, home team will be determined by coin flip at ground-rules. During championship/seeded rounds, home team will be the higher seeded team.
- TIE-BREAKER PROCEDURE:
- If 2 or more teams end pool play round in a tie, following tie-breakers will be used in order:
- 1 - Overall Record.
- 2 - Head to Head.
- 3 - Runs Allowed.
- 4 - Runs Scored.
- 5 - Run Differential.
- 6 - Coin Flip.
